Molly Elizabeth is here!

We are proud to introduce you to our new baby girl – Molly Elizabeth! She was born January 30th at 8 am. She weighed 7 pounds 12 ounces and was 19 inches long. She was just over a pound smaller than Alex and 1.75 inches shorter! Crazy. She was born via C-section and that was a weird experience. If I had to pick I think I would rather work hard to push a baby out over the surgery but some things about the surgery are better. It has been really hard for me to not pick up Alex.

The surgery went well and about 5 minutes after the doctor started, we heard her cry. I had wondered how I could love another baby as much as I love Alex and the second I heard her that worry went away. It is amazing how quickly your heart can grow. Aaron was able to go and watch/get pictures of her being weighed and then he brought her over so I could see her. After a few minutes he took her to our room where our family was waiting. I got to just lay there while the doctor fixed me up. It was really weird to be all alone for the rest of the surgery.

Everyone was so excited to meet Molly, especially our nieces. When my mom went to get my dad from the airport, we had them stop and get Alex on their way back. We couldn't wait to introduce Alex to his little sister. Once Alex had meet Molly and we had a little bit of time with him, we told Rachel to come when they were ready. Both girls couldn't wait to hold Molly. It was so cute. Rebekah would come up to whoever was holding Molly and say hold her while holding her arms up.

We ended up having to stay an extra night in the hospital because I decided to spike a fever on Wednesday. My doctor wanted me to stay until Friday to make sure it didn't come back. Thankfully it didn't. My doctor thinks it might have been my milk coming in. It didn't happen with Alex but apparently some women spike fevers and feel really bad when their milk comes in. The nurse I had for a couple of nights said that it happened to her with all 3 of her kids.

Molly's bilirubin had been high and the doctor decided to put her under the lights to make sure that she could leave when I was released. Her levels had been increasing a little each day and he didn't want us to have to stay yet another night so we did lights to ensure we could go home. We were able to go home on Friday February 3rd. I am recovering well and this is largely due to the wonderful help we have had from my mom and my mother-in-law!

We are so in love with our baby girl! Below are a few pictures from her birthday.
